A spontaneously created photograph inspired partly by the plethora of artworks surrounding Shakespeare's Ophelia and the surreal, erudite and oft-kafkaesque creations of Rene Magritte, amongst many more. The image is partly about a modern sense of drowning, floating, festering, being gangly, unkempt and not really even there. Copyright Alex Rafael Rose 2014

Amongst illustrations and a distorted door (the swirling thing), a mouthless person (myself) sits. A child walking his dog on a mountain is within the shadow I cast. Copyright - Alex Rafael Rose - 2013

A prerequisite to my poem 'Outstretched calm' in which dead leaves are described as being 'The casualties of autumn'. Copyright - Alex Rafael Rose - 2012

This image partly represents the blurry and oft-hazy distortion between the internal/external worlds, inner demons, self-worth issues, ying and yang, embracing your dark side in the confines of middle class suburban London and much, much more. Copyright Alex Rafael Rose 2013

A contorted body against a grated metal sheet casting spots of red hue in varying brightness. "As German poet Franz Wickmeyer wrote, “Snow falls from the heavens pure. We can not blame the snow for being soiled by the Earth.”" Copyright - Alex Rafael Rose - 2013

A photograph from a series. Distorted symmetrically, candles, a broken lamp, broken glass, piano and synthesiser, figure singing (myself) and a poem I wrote and subsequently set fire to. Copyright - Alex Rafael Rose - 2013

Another image in my series of studies on symmetry, I sit in an empty park (closed due to extreme winds) amid the causalities of autumn with myself. Copyright - Alex Rafael Rose - 2013

This is a symmetrically distorted photograph of professional bubble artist Jonatan Staaf (Youtube.com/TheRealPaperCat) in which he created a bubble out of smoke. Distorted to play around the concepts of creation, underlying mathematically pattern and hidden abstraction in the confines of a breath and a inhalation/exhalation, the image is mainly aesthetic despite some conceptual ideas. My newly born cousin confronted and held in intimate grasp by my not-so-newly-born Grandfather. The top of a clock and mirror with the headless body of my Father are visible in the background. Copyright - Alex Rafael Rose - 2013

From the same series as 'Nature', my newly-born cousin and not-so-newly-born Grandfather pause to asses one another. Copyright - Alex Rafael Rose - 2013

Part of the earlier images, with some chemical looking swirls. Copyright - Alex Rafael Rose - 2013
